About Our Organisation

  • Pallibani Mission is an Organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act  1860.  Pallibani started its journey in 1997 with the launch of a literary magazine ‘Pallibani’ to promote Odia language, literature and culture in Delhi. At that time, magazine and newspapers in all other regional languages were available in the capital of India but availability of Odia magazines was far from imagination. At such a time with the initiative of a young writer & poet Ramchandra Nath, who was working in the field of computer software, and with the help of some other Odia youths conceived the idea of an Odia magazine publishing from Delhi to propagate Odia language & literature encompassing various facets of Odia culture. Then it was the year 1997, Pallibani made it’s footprints as the only Odia literary magazine in the National Capital of Delhi. Since then, Pallibani is being continuously published from Delhi carrying the identity of Odisha & propagating Odia Language & literature in Delhi. It is not just a magazine, but a mission to spread Odia literature & its rich heritage among large Odia Diaspora.

  • Pallibani Mission not only worked for literature but made its presence in every platform for the cause of Odia people & Odisha. During the devastating Super Cyclone in 1999, Pallibani Mission stepped in to help the cyclone affected people of Odisha by sending relief materials & clothes by collecting from various places in Delhi. In the year 2002, with the support of the former Chief Justice of India Shri Ranganath Mishra, a cultural program was organised in which ‘Pallishri Samman’ was started to be given to writers of eminence from literature.
  • In 2004, Pallibani Mission took an innovative campaign by writing letters to Odia MPs in Delhi requesting them to write their nameplates in Odia as well as English in their official residences which was largely supported by them & eventually shappened.Thereafter we conceived the idea of launching the campaign to change the name of Orissa to Odisha. Earlier, Odisha was written and called as Orissa and Udiya. Taking such abuse of the name as an insult, Pallibani Mission strongly insisted on raising this issue in Parliament by sending a demand letter to all Odisha MPs, Chief Minister, Chief Secretary and Resident Commissioner in Delhi for taking steps in this direction. After many years of struggle and efforts and due to the sincerity of the state government, the name of Orissa was changed to Odisha after passing of the Bill in Parliament & President’s ascent. After this, the Pallibani Mission did not sit quietly but started efforts to give the status of Odia as a classical language and later on, due to the efforts of MPs and Government of Odisha, Odia language secured the status of a classical language.  In order to maintain the love for their language in the minds of the people of Odisha, the Pallibani Mission submitted a demand letter to the state government to celebrate Classical Language Day every year. For this, a meeting was organized at the Constitution Club, New Delhi and a resolution was passed and this resolution was sent to the State Government through the Resident Commissioner in Delhi. Now, every year on March 11th, the Odia Classical Language Day is being celebrated. The Martyr Jayarajguru Foundation has been established and celebrated on the occasion of Martyr Jayarajguru Sacrifice Day, which was started in 2004 by the Pallibani Mission. Pallibani has been working tirelessly propagating the Odia language, literature & its rich culture with a sense of nationalism among the Odia people living in Delhi NCR.
  • In the year 2018 Pallibani Mission founded Odisha Journalism Award for fair and impartial journalists who play an important role in building a healthy and corruption-free society. To boost the enthusiasm and confidence of such journalists, the ‘Odisha Journalism Award’ was conferred to some eminent Journalists in 2018 & since then it is continuing every year recognising & decorating with the Award to people for outstanding journalism.  Apart from this, young writers of different languages are being organized on one stage to present voiced poems and stories of their respective languages in a program called ‘Shabd’ every year. The first web radio, ‘Radio Shrikshetra’, is also a part of the Pallibali Mission.
  • Pallibani Mission’s work has supported many landmark achievements for Odisha’s cultural and linguistic identity such as Odisha name amendment in Parliament, Odia Classical language, Odia Language Day celebration and many more.
